"FINDING WORK"

This is a sensitive area.  As I have mentioned somewhere else in this document, Karmiel has a small town economy—retail, service businesses, some manufacturing.  This is not corporate America.  It's not even corporate Israel!  Probably the closest location for the latter is in Haifa, which has a fair sized Technical Park and takes about 15-20 minutes to get to by train from Akko or about 45 minutes-1 hr to get to by car (rush hour is longer.)   Other employment possibilities may include the Tefen Industrial Park which is about 15-20 minutes from Karmiel in the hills overlooking the town and Bar Lev Industrial Park  about 15 min. away on the way to Akko.  Yokneam is a high tech center about an hour away by car. IMPORTANT NOTE:  MANY EMPLOYERS PROVIDE TRANSPORT TO WORK ON BUSSES.  OTHER EMPLOYERS PAY FOR TRANSPORTATION COSTS.  

Ziv Hospital in Zefat (35 minutes away by car with lots of possibilities for carpooling) occasional goes looking for qualified medical professionals in several areas. A new medical school is being built in Zefat which will increase the need for qualified folks as well. Check the local papers for the timetable. Things here grind exceedingly slow.

The hospital is also in the funding stage for construction of a Regional Pediatric Center.
